Dress Code
All uniforms must be purchased from School Time Uniform Company, located at 330 Pass Road, Airport Plaza, Gulfport, 39507, phone# 863-0820, web site – http://www.schooltimeuniforms.com. We allow no exceptions.
1. Proper condition of the uniform is required each day. The uniforms are to be free from holes. Holes in the knees of pants are to be patched immediately. If the patch wears through, the pants are to be replaced. If a shirt/blouse has a hole, it should be repaired, if possible, or replaced. NCA’s staff strictly enforces the Dress Code. Each student must be in full uniform each day. Proper shirt/blouse, jumper/skirt/pants, belts (for boys), shoes and socks are required.
2. Modest appearance must be maintained by all students. Young ladies’ jumpers/skirts should reach the bend of the knee. The skirt/jumper should touch the floor when the girl is in a kneeling position. Girls are allowed to wear pants. They are to be loose fitting. (Staff members will decide if the fit is appropriate.) Boys and girls are permitted to wear walking shorts. They are to come to the top of the knee and to fit loosely. Girl’s shorts will have cuffs and boys’ shorts will not have cuffs.
3. Footwear may be a casual or dress shoe. No boots or work shoes of any kind are allowed. Allowable colors include black, navy blue, maroon, or brown. Tennis shoes are to be worn for PE only. They should be white or black without characters. No sandals, open toe shoes, extreme platform or backless shoes are allowed. Socks are to be a solid color. Colors include black, white, navy blue, maroon, and brown. Absolutely no designs or logos are allowed.
4. Hats and caps of any sort are not allowed. Exceptions include field trips and any other special days specified by the staff. Each cap or hat must meet the approval of the staff.
5. Haircuts must be conservative for boys. The hair is to be tapered, off the collar, ears, and out of the eyes. Sideburns are to be no longer than to the middle of the ear. Any questionable styles of hair will be subject to the staff’s judgment. Boys must be clean-shaven with no stubble or mustaches. Girls are to maintain hairstyles that reflect a modest spirit. Hair must be worn out of the eyes. It is recommended hair not be dyed. Staff will decide whether the hair color is acceptable. Makeup and jewelry should be conservative and minimal. Only clear fingernail polish is acceptable.
6. Approved PE Uniforms must be worn during PE, modest fitting shorts and a school T-shirt, white socks and non-scuffing tennis shoes (white or black without logos). The shorts and shirt are to be ordered through the school office. Older girls are to find appropriate fitting navy shorts on their own. The shorts are to be no shorter than three inches above the knee. PE bags labeled with student’s name are mandatory. For cold weather, PE uniforms must be worn with cotton blend sweat pants, maroon/burgundy or navy in color.
7. Students are not allowed to change from uniform to regular clothes on the school grounds. Students are expected to enter and leave school in regular uniforms. There are some exceptions, such as field trips, that require clothing other than uniforms. We will notify parents in advance of any such exceptions. A student who stays after school for non-school related activities will be allowed to change into other clothing only after all other students have exited the campus.
